I found some good wordpress templates to use for adsense and the price is very reasonable.
Can you get by without them? Sure but for 27 bucks why would you? Hell your time SEO ing a wordpress theme is worth something isn't it?
Widget ready , nice header, proper adsense placement ,, what more can you ask for ,, just load and go.

Since I am actually ranking for this I will throw in a freebie. You can use the Wordpress Theme Generator to create your own wordpress theme. No it's not adsense ready like the ones above but it's not a huge problem to add adsense to a wordpress template anyhow.
If you don't know how to put adsense on a regular wordpress template you might need to hire someone to build your site for you anyhow ,,in which case I 'm not even sure the adsense themes offered above would help you out much.
